DESCRIPTION:There are traditions\, and then there are traditions.\n\nFor the 13th year\, we’re kicking off the holiday season at Speak of the Devil the way we know best: by making an unreasonable amount of eggnog and putting a big pot of glögg in the warmer.\nNOG & GLÖGG is back.\nFor one weekend\, the bar gets a little warmer\, the lights seem a little softer\, and the whole place starts smelling like baking spices\, citrus\, booze\, and whatever questionable decisions Christmas is preparing for us.\nWe’ll have our rich\, delicious house eggnog flowing all weekend\, alongside a steaming pot of glögg—that wonderful Scandinavian concoction of warm spiced wine\, spirits\, fruit and spice that makes an Ohio November seem considerably more civilized.\nIt’s simple. It’s cozy. It’s boozy.\nAnd after thirteen years\, it’s become one of our favorite little Speak of the Devil holiday traditions.\n\nCome in from the cold. Have a nog. Have a glögg.\nHell\, have both.\nThe holidays have officially begun.

And somewhere along the way you realize\, “well\, I guess this is just part of Christmas now.”\n\nThat’s Mike Petrone at Speak of the Devil.\n\nCleveland’s own “Piano Man” has become as much a part of the holidays around here as our Nog & Glögg\, and we honestly can’t imagine the season without him anymore.\n\nMike settles in at the piano\, the drinks start flowing\, and before long the whole damn bar is singing along. Christmas songs\, old favorites\, requests\, probably a few things that have absolutely nothing to do with Christmas—and by the end of the night\, any distinction between Mike and the audience has pretty much disappeared.\n\nIt’s loud. It’s warm. It’s wonderfully ridiculous.\n\nAnd it is so much fun.\n\nSo gather up some friends\, grab a holiday drink and come sing your fool head off with us.\n\nA whole bunch of holiday cheer\, a whole bunch of singalongs\, and one of our absolute favorite nights of the year.\n\nYeah. Christmas is getting close.

The 21st Amendment was ratified\, the nation’s bars could legally get back to business\, and Americans could once again enjoy a proper drink without looking over their shoulders.\n\nWe think that’s worth raising a glass to.\n\nJoin us Saturday\, December 5th\, as we celebrate Repeal Day with our good friends from Old Forester\, a whiskey brand that actually lived through the whole damn thing!\n\nGood whiskey\, good company\, live jazz\, and a toast to the return of a little common sense.\n\nHere’s to 93 years of doing this legally. DESCRIPTION:THE EMP JAZZ TRIO RETURNS!\n\nThe Saturday after Christmas\, we’re bringing back some familiar faces and some seriously good jazz!\n\nThe EMP Jazz Trio\, led by drummer Evan Michael Palermo\, returns to Speak of the Devil for another evening of great live music.\n\nOne of the things we love about these guys is their willingness to take a familiar tune\, pull it apart\, and put it back together as something entirely different. Jazz standards? Sure. But they’re just as comfortable reaching outside the usual jazz songbook\, giving unexpected songs some pretty inventive jazz treatments. Half the fun is recognizing what they’re playing and hearing where they take it.\n\nSo\, once the Christmas dust has settled\, the wrapping paper’s been hauled away\, and you’ve had just about enough holiday music\, come settle in with us for some jazz and a proper cocktail.
