You may remember them as The Crawling Madisons. Well, same gang. Same rock & roll heart. New name. Meet The Low Horses. They’re riding back into Speak of the Devil on Saturday, September 19, bringing that same rootsy, rockabilly, blues-tinged racket we had such a damn good time with the last time around. New name. …
Our last patios cigar night of the year! Where has the summer gone!?
It’s been a while since our old friend Cole Davidson has played this little room of ours, and we’re genuinely happy to have him back. Cole comes out of the New England indie-folk world, playing this beautifully intricate fingerstyle guitar and writing songs that somehow manage to feel warm and a little dark at the …
Our friend Mezz Recipe is coming back to play the bar. If you caught Mezz last time, you already know—bluesy, soulful, a little gritty and pretty much perfect for our little room. If you didn’t, well, here’s your chance. Bluesy, soulful and funky. Not to be missed!
Our friend Teddy Eisenberg returns to the booth Saturday, October 10, and we’re just going to get the hell out of his way. Teddy digs deep. Weird cuts. World groove. Jazz. Hip hop. Garage rock. Soul. Funk. Things you know but haven’t heard in forever. Things you’ve never heard and suddenly need to know everything …
Sunday soupday with the best ramen around!
Another vinyl night event! Bring a platter or pick a platter from our crates!
Cocktail Karaoke is back, and this time the theme is simple: SONGS THE WHOLE DAMN ROOM WILL SING ALONG TO. You know the ones. The songs where somewhere around the first chorus it stops being your karaoke song and suddenly 40 strangers are singing backup like you’ve all been rehearsing together for months. Journey. Dolly. …
Our friend—and Lorain’s own—akaFayaven of aka & co. is doing something a little different at Speak of the Devil. On Saturday, October 17, he’s stripping things back for a very special UNPLUGGED evening. No big production. No wall of sound. Just the songs, the voice, the keys, and that little bit of magic that happens …
Sunday soupday with the best ramen around!
The Dirty Little Blues Band is coming back to Speak of the Devil. And these boys do not come to sit quietly in the corner. This is rockabilly, jump blues and greasy old rock ’n’ roll played the way God and several juvenile delinquents intended it—loud, loose, swinging and just a little dangerous around the …
Sunday soupday with the best ramen around!
Halloween night, DJ Kung Fu Bob Spehar returns to Speak of the Devil—and Bob does things a little differently. He arrives carrying a wonderfully unhinged collection of vinyl, CDs and, yes, actual cassette tapes, then proceeds to stitch the whole mess together into one of the strangest, coolest soundtracks you’re likely to hear anywhere. Garage …
Okay, cocktail people, this is a pretty big one for us. Our friend—and one of the absolute heavyweights of cocktail writing—Robert Simonson, award-winning author and New York Times and Wall …
We’re very happy to welcome Kristine Jackson back to Speak of the Devil for another evening of blues, soul, and rock with that wonderfully lived-in voice of hers filling up …
Turntable Tuesday is back. Which sounds like an “event,” but really it’s just Tuesday night around here with a turntable spinning, a stack of records nearby and somebody inevitably saying, …
Books. Drinks. A little history. And a story that gets stranger the deeper you go. Books & Brews, our monthly book club with our friends at the Lorain Public Library, …
Well, this one might get the furniture moving. JAZZ CABBAGE is coming back to Speak of the Devil, bringing their particular brand of jump blues, rockabilly and good old-fashioned rock …
There was a brief, magical period in American history when the pants were flared, the shirts were unbuttoned to somewhere around the navel, cocaine was apparently a food group and …
Our guy Ray Flanagan is coming back to Speak of the Devil. If you've spent any amount of time around the Northeast Ohio music scene, chances are you've seen Ray …
